What you’ll need…

Step 1. This rig works best with a dedicated monofiment hooklink.

Step 2. Form a simple knotless knot and trim off the excess tag.

Step 3. Thread a size 20 Target Rig Swivel onto the hook.

Step 4. Next thread on a Covert Hook Stop carefully teasing it over the barb to maintain its grip.

Step 5. Position the Covert Hook Stop so the swivel sits on the hook shank as shown (opposite the barb).

Step 6. We recommend tying a figure of eight loop knot in the end of the hooklink. A hooklink length of 6-7 inches (15-18cm) is most effective.

Step 7. We prefer to use a wafter or snowman hookbait and mount the hookbait with the swivel embedded neatly in the base like this.

Step 8. An easy way of attaching the hookbait is to pull through a piece of monofilament and blob it with a lighter.

Step 9. Finally, steam the hooklink to ensure it sits straight and to set the position of the hook in alignment with the hooklink.
